Welcome to Rowan Class 10 Year 6 and 17 Year 5 children

Useful information.

P.E- will be on a Monday and Thursday. We will be outside for PE in the Autumn Term so please can children remember to wear their full P.E kits including pumps or trainers.

Homework- This is set on SeeSaw on a Friday and you will have the week to complete it.

Spellings – The spelling pattern for the week will be set on Emile on a Monday so they will have all week to practise before having a spelling test on Friday.

Reading- Children need to read to a grown up at home at least once a week. They will bring their School reading book home every Friday. Please make sure reading records are signed and brought back into school every Monday.

Times Tables – All children will have a login for Timestables Rockstars, please try to use this as often as possible. A few minutes every day really does make a difference.

Please continue to support your child with their learning, especially with reading, timetables and homework.

Any questions or queries please feel free to speak to me at the start of day, end of day or ring the office to arrange an appointment. I look forward to seeing you at parents’ evening in October.

AUTUMN ONE

This half term our topic is ‘Ancient Greece’.

During this half term we will be learning about what life was like in Ancient Greece. We will be exploring Greek myths and learning how the Ancient Greeks governed their cities as well as looking at how Ancient Greece influenced the rest of the World. In Art lessons we will be learning about Ancient Greek art and architecture and designing and making our own vases in the style used by the Ancient Greeks. Our Science topic is forces. We will be learning about balanced and unbalanced forces as well as investigating air resistance, water resistance and friction. Our Literacy work this half term will be based on the novel The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The mythical creatures in this book will link well with our History topic.

We always enjoy sharing any information or items related to the Class topic, if your child wishes to bring them into school they are more than welcome.

Our Mission

We believe that every child is special and has their own talents

At Clitheroe St. James' C.E. Primary School, Christianity flows through everything we do but we also value other faiths.

All the children will be helped to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour. They will be encouraged to always try to do their best and be proud of their work.

Clitheroe St. James' C.E. Primary School is an important and valuable part of the Church family and the wider community.
