Hawthorn Class - Useful Information

PE Days - Tuesday and Wednesday.

Please make sure that your child comes to school in their PE Kit on these days.

Homework

Homework is set on Seesaw every Friday and should be completed and submitted on Seesaw by the following Friday.

Homework consists of Spellings, Times Tables and either a Maths activity or an English activity.

Your child should also be reading at home for at least 10 minutes every day. Please listen to your child read regularly, even if they are a confident reader and I would ask that Reading Records are also filled in. Thank you.

Class Talks

Instead of Show and Tell, in Hawthorn Class each child has the opportunity to do a Class Talk. This can be about anything that your child is interested in. It could be about a hobby, a pet, a favourite holiday, or just something that your child has done recently and would like to share with the rest of the class.

A list was sent home in September with the date of every child's Class Talk. Please just ask if you have misplaced this or need to rearrange your child's Class Talk for any reason.

If you ever have any concerns or questions, please feel free to speak to me any evening after school, or ring the office to make an appointment.

Many thanks

Mrs Gardiner

Our topic for Spring 1 is "Rock and Roll"!

In English we will be reading Stig of the Dump and in Geography we will be learning about volcanoes and earthquakes.

In Science we will be studying rocks and fossils and in Art we will be doing some observational drawings of fossils.

In our Music lessons we will continue to learn to play the ukulele and in Computing we will be learning about how to stay safe online.

Our topic for Autumn 2 is "The Iron Man".

In our English lessons we will be studying The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.

In PE we will be creating our own dance based on the character of The Iron Man.

In our Topic lessons, we will be doing some Geography, learning about the Lake District as well as developing our map work skills.

In Science we will be learning about Forces and in DT we will be creating moving pictures.

Our topic for Autumn 1 is “What did the Romans do for us?”.

In our History lessons we will be finding out about the Romans – who they were, why they came to Britain and what life was like while they were here. Then, in our English lessons, we will use our knowledge of the Romans to create information leaflets.

We will be creating some Roman themed art this half term as well.

It should be a really fun half term and there might be a couple of exciting surprises along the way as well!

I am really looking forward to meeting you all properly in September.
